We joke about Derek being the “Old Guy” or the “Fossil” on the team, because of the decades of ministry experience he brings, particularly in mission and strategic thinking. For an old guy, he sure does have a young way of thinking and seeing the world around us.
Derek has served as a pastor, church planter, church planting catalyst, and now as our Teaching and Mission Pastor. His training was in Pastoral Theology, but his life work has been directed toward those who have yet to experience the incomparable forgiveness, restoration and wholeness that God provides us through an all-in-faith in Jesus.
Derek and his wife, Sheila, have been married for more than 42 years. They both grew up in local farming families. Their four grown children and eleven grandchildren, all actively participate in growing church communities spread across three of the US states.
